Personal hygiene is the principle of maintaining cleanliness and grooming of the skin of the external body. It is, basically, taking care of your body. Taking time to groom yourself will drive away sicknesses from you. It will also help you achieve social acceptance, promote cleanliness and develop healthy habits. You will be presentable for all occasions.
Cleanliness is imperative to a healthy lifestyle. Bathing should be a frequent and regular habit. Bath at least twice a day to prevent having a bad and offensive odour. Stale perspiration is offensive and a breeding ground for micro-organisms. The armpit needs special attention as they harbor perspiration. Be careful in the choice of soap and creams that lighten and can damage your skin. Towels and facecloths should not be spared as they spread infection. They are often moist enough to support the growth of populations of bacteria.
Personal hygiene also entails proper care of the teeth. Mouth odour will put off anyone, anytime. The teeth should be brushed regularly, at least, twice a day, especially before retiring for the day to prevent decay. Sweets should be taken sparingly and the teeth should be brushed immediately after. Brushes should be changed often, at least, once in three months. For the gum to be preserved and not bruised, brushing should be vertical(up and down). Don’t neglet your teeth as it could have a tremendous effect on how you are perceived by others. It may be embarrassing if you open your mouth, or embrace someone and the person finds it difficult to reciprocate. Dirty yellowish teeth are not the image you desire to present to others.
